Mini Review

Summer Daze was my first read by Kris Lashay and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved Kalea and Amare. I really enjoyed how the book starts off at the present and then flashes back to how they met and everything leading up to the present. This book ends on a huge cliffhanger, and I was so glad to hop right into book two to see how it all played out.

Synopsis contains spoilers for book one

Mini Review

Closest Thing to Perfect picks up immediately following the events of book one, Summer Daze. The secret is out, and nothing will be the same for Amare and Kalea. Some of the choices that Kalea made this time around really had me shaking my head in frustration. All in all, I think this book wrapped up their story beautifully.

Synopsis

****WARNING: This book does not have the typical Happily Ever After ending. If that is what you're looking for, this book is not for you.****

Kamaria is the life of any party and has no qualms about who she is or how she chooses to live her life. When she first meets Amin, she makes it clear that relationships and commitment are a deal breaker for her. Afterall, girls just want to have fun.

What started out as a summer fling for Amin turned into him wanting more than Kamaria is trying to offer. He's getting older and realizes there is more to life than having flings and fun. He is starting to feel like his biological clock is ticking. He isn't getting any younger, you know.

After Kamaria does the one thing that she is asked not to do, Amin is done with her. Setting blazes along her path at the sting of rejection, Kamaria is led in the direction of self discovery. She has to do a lot of soul searching and learn who she is as a woman and what she truly wants out of life.

Will she be able to get herself together, or will she let so much time pass her by that Amin moves on? Find out if this summer fling ends in a season of lust, destruction, or love.

Mini Review

Seasons of Love is a spinoff that focuses on Kalea's sister, Kamaria. Kamaria is not looking for love or a relationship. She is perfectly happy living the single life while having two " friends." Amin wants more. He loves Kamaria but when the love is not reciprocated, he has no choice but to move on forcing Kamaria to think about what it is she truly wants. Seasons of Love was fast paced and full of drama. It also features a twist that I did not see coming at all!

I grew attached to all of these characters while reading this novella series. Fingers crossed that there is another book coming. I  will definitely be reading more from Kris Lashay in the future. I really enjoy her writing style.
