Hi All! It's Becky. Jennifer L. Armentrout's The Harbinger Series hooked me with Storm and Fury. I happily devoured the last book in the series, and it almost lived up to my expectations.
Title: Grace and Glory
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Note: I listened to the audiobook.
Summary: Trinity Morrow had found happiness with her protector Zayne until she lost him in battle. Now, Zayne has returned to her as a fallen angel who doesn't remember her. Can Tritinty make Zayne remember her in time for him to help in the fight against The Harbinger, or are they and the world doomed?
Review: I've got to admit I'm conflicted about this book. There were parts I genuinely enjoyed (Zayne, Trinity, Zayne & Trinity together), but there were parts I didn't love (too much drama and aspects of the ending). The novel as a whole gave me a satisfying resolution, but I wasn't entirely happy with it.
I'm going to start with the good...Zayne. I love Zayne. I have loved Zayne since I read White Hot Kiss. I honestly couldn't understand how anyone would have picked Roth over him. I enjoyed reading about his return from heaven and his romance with Trinity. Their relationship was adorable and sizzling in a way that made the book fun to read. Also, I appreciated Trinity as a main character. I think there need to be more books with strong, kick-ass female leads. I would keep reading stories about Zayne and Trinity as long as Armentrout writes them.
Yet, there were some things I didn't love about Grace and Glory. The book felt overly long. There were incidents and details which felt like they should have been edited and made the book move slowly. Plus, Trinity's resolution about her failing eyesight didn't work for me. I'm sure some readers will love the ending but, for me, it negated parts of Trinity's character development.
I did enjoy Grace and Glory, and I will keep reading Armentrout's books, but this was not my favorite from the author.
Final Rating: 3 out of 5
