I have to often explain myself when it comes to how much I read. I don't skim read. I also don't think I read very fast. Reading is just my escape. It is my happy place. I listen to audiobooks when I do chores, work out, and when I drive. Instead of watching Netflix or having a social life, I read. I only went 4 days without reading this month and that is because I was trying to catch up on writing reviews. "Trying" is the keyword here, I am still 6 reviews behind. But I love this book life. Books have saved me. I would say I averaged 4 hours of reading per day, so I was able to fit in quite a few books this month. Many of those hours were spent by the pool while my family went swimming. This heatwave is no joke. As soon as I finish editing this post, I will be finishing up my last book of June, Ribbons of Scarlet. But overall, I read 16 books and listened to 8 books. Two of the books I have been reading a chapter a day since January, I just happened to finish this month. Those books are:
1) Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi~ I started reading this book in January. I have been reading a tiny section every day while annotating and taking notes so that way I can learn as much as possible. 2) The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien~ If you follow my Tolkien Tuesday posts then you know I have only been reading a chapter a week for the past couple of weeks. I have now started The Unfinished Tales.
6) A Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight ~ This was a great legal thriller ~ 4 stars 7) A Dark and Secret Place by Jen Williams ~ This book is all kinds of twisty ~ 4 stars 8) Daughters of Sparta by Claire Heywood ~ Who doesn't love a mythology retelling ~ 4 stars 9) Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough ~ That ending, am I right? ~ Review to Come 10) The Home For Unwanted Girls by Joanna Goodman ~ If you need to have a good book cry, this is it ~ 4 stars 11) The Woman Who Would Be King by Kara Cooney ~ A fascinating insight to a legendary woman ~ Review To Come 12) The Faberge Secret by Charles Belfoure ~ A disappointment ~ 1 star 13) The Adventures of Tom Bombadil by JRR Tolkien ~It's Tolkien, enough said ~ 5 stars 14) A Matter of Scale by Preston Charles Urka ~ Climate Change ~ Review to Come 15) Stonehenge by Bernard Cornwell ~ An ancient family epic ~ 5 stars 16) A Cup of Silver Linings by Karen Hawkins ~ Dove Pond Book #2 ~ Review To Come
Audiobooks:
17) Wolfhall by Hilary Mantel ~ Dull. ~ 2 stars 18) The Maidens by Alex Michaelides ~ I loved this mythology aspect ~ 3 stars 19) The Mark of the King by Jocelyn Green ~ Always a wonderful historical fiction ~ 4 stars 20) The Impaler's Wife by Autumn Bardot ~ This is not it ~2 stars 21) All Boys Aren't Blue by George M. Johnson ~ This IS it! 5 stars 22) The Lying Game by Ruth Ware ~ A Unreliable Thriller ~ Review Coming Soon 23) Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender ~ LOVE ~ Review Coming Soon 24) The Breath of a Whale by Leigh Calvez ~ Conservation and Whales ~ Review Coming Soon
My favorites? That would be Felix Ever After, All Boys Aren't Blue, Stonehenge, Stamped from the Beginning, and TheSilmarillion.
