August Mulvaney has always been exceptional. As the genius son of an eccentric billionaire, his off-putting behavior is often blamed on his high IQ. They say there's a thin line between genius and madness. August is both—a brilliant professor loved by his students and a ruthless, obsessive killer tasked with righting the wrongs of a failing justice system. And he's just found his latest obsession: Lucas Blackwell.

Lucas Blackwell was once the golden child of the FBI, using his secret talent as a clairvoyant to help put away society's worst. Until, with a touch, he discovers his co-worker is a killer and his life falls apart. Now, the world thinks he's crazy and that co-worker wants him dead. He seeks refuge at a small college, hoping to rebuild his life and his reputation. But then he runs into August Mulvaney. Literally.

August is immediately intrigued with Lucas and his backstory. He doesn't believe in psychics, but there's no missing the terror in his eyes when they collide in the hallway. Now, August has a problem. Lucas knows his secret, and August knows he wants Lucas. And August always gets what he wants.

Can he convince Lucas that not all killers are created equal and that having a psychopath in his corner—and in his life—might be just what he needs?

Psycho is a fast-paced, thrill ride of a romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It features a psychopath hell-bent on romance and a disgraced FBI agent attempting to redeem himself. As always, there's gratuitous violence, very dark humor, and scenes so hot it will melt your kindle. This is book 2 in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.

"You've got me and I'm the monster other monsters fear."

Psycho
is the second book in the Necessary Evils series by Onley James. While it technically can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first book Unhinged simply because it was awesome.

"Three words to describe him? Which him did they want? The brilliant quirky weirdo or the deviant homicidal psychopath?"

August Mulvaney is a vigilante psychopath raised to put his unique ability to put an end to the bad guys who slip through the cracks. He's also a billionaire professor which an incredibly high IQ. When he runs into Lucas Blackwell on campus, he immediately knows he's found his newest obsession. Lucas, former FBI profiler, use to use his clairvoyant abilities to put away criminals. When his gift points him to another agent, the rest of the FBI calls him crazy and turns their backs on him. With one touch, he knows the truth of who August is, but finds it hard to resist August's advances. August is so much more than the ruthless killers he's hunted in the past. He's the only person to ever make him feel safe and protected. Can one psychopath keep Lucas safe from the other one that's hunting him.

"I'll literally burn this world to ash before I let somebody hurt you. I don't care who suffers because of it."

I loved every moment of this book, seriously have zero complaints. I loved both August and Lucas, and every interaction had with the other Mulvaney brothers. Aside from his pleasure from killing, August is precious. His lack of empathy and his inability to judge social cues because of his autism make it not easy for him to tell Lucas' moods and reactions. That doesn't stop him from trying his hardest to make it sure that Lucas will never want to leave him. From reading books about relationship and asking advice from his brother Adam and his boyfriend Noah. Then we have Lucas, who is used to being labeled the crazy person in the room, so it doesn't take him to long to wrap his head around August. August makes him feel safe and not so crazy. I couldn't get enough of these two together, they had some tender moments, including August supporting Lucas when he suffered with his visions and Lucas placing all his trust in August. The intimate scenes between them were intense and hot as sin, with August submitting to Lucas and Lucas' letting go and embracing his darker desires.

"He wanted that . He wanted August . On his knees. On all fours. Hell, anyway he could get him."

Psycho by Onley James is a dark romance with violence, torture, murder, kink, and knife play, but it also has more than sweet moments that include lunch dates and sweet coffee cup messages. I'm obsessed with the Necessary Evil series and can't wait for the next one!

Psycho by Onley James is the second book in the Necessary Evils series. August Mulvaney lives two lives, the absent minded yet brilliant professor and the skilled torturing vigilante and most violent Mulvaney brother. He is content in his existence as long as his secrets are kept under wraps. But a legitimate run in with a new professor at the university throws August's entire life off kilter. Lucas Blackwood is the laughing stock of the FBI when his psychometry is found out and no one believes him, instead they commit him and he is almost killed. He has decided to take a teaching job to get away from it all. But murder and mayhem run directly into him when he collides with August. Instead of running away from a serial killer he finds himself being drawn into August's arms. But how can Lucas, who is supposed to stop killers find himself falling one and how can August trust the one man who can destroy all the Mulvaney's have built.

August Mulvaney is amazing. He is the perfect combination of oblivious sweet weirdo and absolutely savage killer. What can I say besides these morally gray Mulvaneys have my number. His obsession with Lucas shouldn't be okay but for some reason I can't help but accept his need to keep Lucas safe from everyone, even himself. Their chemistry is incredible and the kink they explore is safe and well discussed. Watching August try to comprehend how to be in a relationship and utilizing his brothers (well mostly Noah since the rest have no comprehension of feelings) just made him even better.

"August flounced back onto the bed. 'I can't kiss you or touch you or take you to breakfast? You're taking all the fun out of this sleepover.' Lucas chuckled. 'Then go break into another man's home.' August reappeared. 'There's no other man. Just you."

Lucas Blackwell knows he's in over his head with August and finds himself just not caring. With a serial killer from his past with the FBI hot on his trail he doesn't think he has to worry about August hurting him since he probably doesn't have much time left. Lucas is even more surprised to find that instead of ever even considering hurting him, August just wants to keep him safe and happy. He finds himself being welcomed into the craziness that is the Mulvaneys and being accepted for the first time for his psychometry.

"August's intense gaze didn't waver. 'I believe in you.'
'You can't say things like that,' Lucas whispered, swaying forward to brush their lips together.
'Why not?' August answered, pupils dilating.
Lucas snagged the back of August's head and dragged him forward to slant their mouth together, letting his tongue explore before saying, 'Because it makes me want to do dirty things to you."

When a Mulvaney falls in love, watch out, there is going to be blood, mayhem and bad men taken out. There will also be a psychopath learning to love in his own way and another man finding that even a psycho deserves to be loved and cared for. Within the sweetness of August and Lucas falling in love you have a brutal series of killing and a glimpse into the depravity of the dark web and it's content. I do believe these books can be read as standalones but you appreciate Noah's insight into his induction in the Mulvaney family and how there are ways to love a psychopath. Also take the trigger warnings to heart as this crime is not for the faint of heart and the people that Mulvaneys stop are the worst of humankind. Don't ask me why I can overlook this absolute instant love story but hey when it works it just works.

5 stars for August and Lucas falling in love and the chaos they bring.
