Happy Sunday my lovelies!
With that, here is this week's Sunday wrap up post!

This week in life...

...has been long! I was so completely exhausted, by the time I got off of work on Friday, that I took a big ol' nap afterwards. Yesterday, I took a trip to Chinatown. The party consisted of my mom, brother, and I and we had split up (mom running her errands, my brother and I shopping). It's been a while since I last headed to the cities and there was somehow both more and less people than I had expected. While I didn't exactly do much shopping, I did land myself a cute binder notebook from Elizabeth Center and 2 whole boxes of matcha latte powder. My tea cabinet, once again, feels fully stocked! Afterwards, we'd all gone back to my grams house where we stayed for dinner.

I did the darndest thing too. As we were midway traveling to Chinatown, we were talking about Metrocards and I said, "Eh, I can't find my MetroCard, but it's okay, just use the OMNI reader and your phone." As I reached down to pat my pocket, to emphasize "phone", I went 😳 "Guys...I left my phone at home." We didn't end up going back for it.

But I did have my Kindle...

I had made sure to grab my Kindle and my notebook and pen

...but forgot my phone...

So I guess...reading is more important than my phone 😂 I stayed glued to my brother (who had his) in case my mom called to meet back up. I would have been bored to tears without my Kindle, but at least I got a lot of reading done!

This week in blogging...

MONDAY: Book Review: Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw

Started out with the usual Monday review. It'll be the first of two reviews for the week and boy was I glad to be done with it. Yes, I know it was I who requested it in the first place, and yes, it was I who was drawn in by cover art in the first place, but that doesn't make me less scared of it! The book was actually really good, albeit kind of purple. The poetics seemed to fit the theme though so overall, it was a nice read. Not as scary as the cover implied, but still had me going to my brother's room to continue reading because I didn't want to be alone in mine 😫

TUESDAY: Teaser Tuesday No. 9

Most of 2021 revolved around tours, a few indies and self-published books, and other series. If you know me, you would know that back in 2020 (and prior) I would have only stuck with the same author, series, or genre with my favorite being John Sandford, the Virgil Flowers series, and mystery thrillers respectively. But, ever since I started to branch out to different genres and series I haven't really been back to my favorite series. Another reason was that, being the 8th book in a [currently] 13 book series, I had also wanted to drag out the inevitable "caught up to the latest book and now it's a waiting game" moment...

But...now that I'm finally back, I've been having an amazing time with the book. My current read for the week, this week's Teaser Tuesday features lines from my latest Virgil Flowers read, Deadline by John Sandford.

WEDNESDAY: WWW Wednesday No. 8

For Wednesday, I had another WWW Wednesday up and was pretty happy with my reading week; both the one that just passed and the current one. I had finished reading both Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw and Twice a Daughter by Julie McGue making last week one of my most productive reading weeks...maybe ever! I'm back down to a single [main] current read this week, but I'm flying by faster than expected in Lies Like Wildfire and can't wait to finish both. They have been A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. so far!

THURSDAY: Book Review: Twice a Daughter: A Search for Identity, Family, and Belonging by Julie Ryan McGue

Last week was a great reading week because I somehow managed to finish both my weekly reads. So, for Thursday, I had a second review up instead of the usual Book Tag Thursday post. The book was great and maybe one of the top reads this year in both the nonfiction category (in which there wasn't really much to begin with) and all the other 2021 books. I cried, I laughed, I was disappointed, and then I was hopeful. There were happy tears and sad tears and the entire journey was just amazing, very nearly unbelievable in terms of the multiple coincidences and the movie like ending. A beautiful book that I can't stop thinking about.

FRIDAY: First Lines Friday No. 6

Friday came another First Lines Friday and this book came from my walk around Chinatown and the Lower East Side of New York City. I wasn't expecting a bookstore there because every time I had checked the map for local bookstores, near Chinatown, it was a bit of a walk (and we didn't want to go too far because Chinatown usually meant group errands). It's a cute little bookstore and I had walked out with a small bag of four books. It was the first time I'd stepped into a bookstore in maybe 2 years! Even before the pandemic, the last time I had gone in one was Barnes and Nobles before we moved houses...

SATURDAY: TBR Game: The TBR Bucket

A little while back, I'd made a quick reel (and TikTok video) featuring my TBR bucket. It's been a while (WHILE WHILE) since I last sat down to play with crafting materials. So for yesterday's post, I threw up the post and written version of the video. As a kid, I used to love the Wednesday Public Library [hosted] craft events and the Highlights magazine crafts page. Putting my bucket together and writing up the post really gave me nostalgic feeling.
