Hello! I'm back to properly blogging, I think! I might have less posts than normal, but I want to try and keep a semi-regular schedule.

So here are all the books I read when I wasn't regularly blogging!

July

  • Sword Stone Table: Old Legends, New Voices edited by Swapna Krishna & Jenn Northington - 3 stars
  • Up All Night: 13 Stories between Sunset and Sunrise edited by Laura Silverman - 3.5 stars
  • Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher - 4 stars
    • Hearing her voice on the audiobook almost made me cry. I think this does work better as a one-woman play, but this was still really good!
  • Circe by Madeline Miller - 4 stars
    • This was a phenomenal audiobook, like Circe herself is telling you her life story.
  • Over the Garden Wall Vol 1 by Jim Campbell, Amalia Levari, & Pat McHale - 2 stars
    • I really love the original cartoon, so I was really sad that this didn't work for me. There were two mini stories in one graphic novel and they were both just okay.

August

  • The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis- 4 stars
    • This was an imaginative world with a solid cast of characters. The world-building was phenomenal, not only in the descriptions of the fantasy-western world, but in the parallels Davis wanted to make with the fantasy world and America in the 1800s. Everything they wrote, they wrote with intent. I have not seen nearly as many people talking about this as there should be.
  • Oh My Gods! by Stephanie Cooke, Insha Fitzpatrick & Juliana Moon- 2.75 stars
    • This was... fine. The main character was super oblivious and if you're trying to think logically about the mystery, you're going too far. There are other Greek myth based middle grade books out there.
  • Wolves in the Fold by Elizabeth Wambheim - 3.5 stars
    • This was a solid ace love story! I liked seeing the exchange of culture and language between the main characters!

September

  • The All-Consuming World by Cassandra Khaw - 2 stars
  • My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite - 3.5 stars
    • Not what I expected, bc it was definitely more satirical than a straight thriller, but it was super enjoyable!
  • Remote Control by Nnedi Okorafor - 3 stars
    • I enjoyed it, but I'm already planning on rereading it.
  • The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould - 3.75 stars
  • Her Wolf in the Wild by Rien Gray - 4 stars
