You knew I was gonna come back for Blogtober! Even if I've never done a post a day for it, I still really enjoy posting spooky content!

My TBR this month is made of books that I hope will help me get in the Halloween mood. The books themselves are books on the shorter size or are audiobooks I can get out of my library.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

This is going to be my first Leigh Bardugo book and my first dark academia book. I plan on listening to the audiobook unless I hear that it's actually a really bad quality audiobook.

Even If We Break by Marieke Nijkamp

I have no idea what this book is about, and not because I didn't read the summary this time. The summary is purposefully vague, which I appreciate for a thriller. What I do know is this cast is very queer and neurodivergent, which was my main motivation in pre-ordering it.

Cattywampus by Ash Van Otterloo

This is a relatively new middle grade release about a witch who isn't sure she'll receive her powers because she is intersex. It's also a book about sisters, which I love to see, especially in witchy books.

A Dark and Starless Forest by Sarah Hollowell

I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley.

This is a YA debut paranormal book set in a spooky forest with a large, isolated family in the center of it. It's slightly different from my initial understanding of what the book is about, but I'm still excited to read it!

The Monster of Elendhaven by Jennifer Giesbrecht

A lot of people I follow online have read this novella, but I'm still not sure what to expect from it besides (potentially) queer monsters.

Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo

I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley.

This is a southern gothic take on dark academia with, what is in my opinion, the wildest set of comps I've ever seen. It's pitched as "The Secret History" meets "Fast and the Furious" and every time I'm reminded of that, I'm baffled and intrigued. It's also queer! Definitely be on the look out for my review of this book.

Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite edited by Zoraida Córdova & Natalie C. Parker

This is a YA anthology of vampire stories with some of my favorite authors participating! I definitely need an anthology for this month if I want to try and read more.

Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach

Look, I'm a weirdo who likes reading nonfiction books about death and I just saw that my library has this on audiobook. I'm not sure what else I have to know about this book to want to read it.

What do your October reading plans looking like? Have you read any of these books? I want to hear your opinions in the comments!
