Welcome back to Lamon Reviews.

As you may know I am participating in the Long and Short Wednesday Weekly Challenge. This week the topic is What Sparks My Creativity.

  1. Reading
  2. Watching informative videos
  3. Watching people or animals interact
  4. Listening to podcasts
  5. Early morning time.
  6. Before bed time

I get my most creative ideas when I am reading or watching an informative video. When I am posed with questions that make me think my creativity goes wild.

There are many things that spark my creativity. For example; when reading a book, I sometimes focus on a background character and wonder what they are thinking in a particular scene and then go from there. They usually aren't the main character, so my mind is free to build an entire world around them. Thats how I get most of my short story ideas.

My example of watching an informative video is I watched a writing expert go through simple steps for creating a short story. I saved that video, so now anytime I watch it as I am making the story, my creativity gets a boost. I want to make it a habit that whenever I think of the steps I get the same boost as watching the speaker. So far, I have created five short stories by repeating this process!

Another thing that gets my creativity sparked is watching people and animals, mostly any living things interacting with each other. My brain continues to make stories and situations for them.

As I have mentioned before, I love listening to podcasts. Since you can usually find a podcast on any subject, I feel the sky is the limit for potential creativity sparkage. Several I listen to have writing prompts. There is one food podcast I like to listen to before I decide on what to cook, and I know it has helped me with food creativity.

I think the best time of day for my creativity is early in the morning. I am able to get morning duties out of the way, or sometimes before duties, if I am awake early enough and just let my mind focus wonder. (If thats a thing)

On the other hand, right before I go to sleep, my mind and imagination tends to run wild. I randomly type notes into my phone so I don't forget ideas I have had. Needless to say, falling asleep is hard for me.

Mostly I have talked about writing. I have many other interest and those creative ideas usually come about in similar fashions. I also watch a lot of DIY videos. They give me inspiration and spark my creativity.

Now I'd like to hear from you!

What sparks your creativity? Where do you find inspiration? Do you do any of the things mentioned above? Leave a comment below.

And As Always...

Go forth, dear readers, support your favorite indie authors and encourage reading and literacy.
