Hi everyone! Welcome to my monthly round up for November 2021. Life's been a bit hectic for me this last month and so, honestly, I haven't read as much as I would have liked, nor have I been able to put out much content on here. However, I have managed to get myself a permanent job after a good few months of trying and so should have a bit more time – and, crucially, more head space – to get back into my books and creating content.
Anyway, I'll be running through what I have read this month, what content I have posted here, and talking about what I am planning on reading next month.
Reviews & Posts
As I said, I've not been hugely productive on the blogging front this month. But there are two posts for you to check out, if you want. Just click the images for the link through to each post.
First up, I did write a review this month. It was for the hugely acclaimed and award-winning Binti by Nnedi Okorafor. I enjoyed this novella and will be continuing the series, but I certainly didn't love it either. Though, one thing I didn't mention in my review was the cover. I absolutely love the cover!
Secondly, I wrote another one of my very sporadic series of posts, Five of the Best. The premise is very simple: I talk about five books within a category that I think do that thing the best. This time I was talking about books that have great female characters. So if you want some recommendations for books that have strong female lead characters, then go check that out!
What I Read
As I've said already, I didn't get a huge amount of reading done this month. I only finished one full length novel with Northern Wrath by Thilde Kold Holdt, though it is a certified chunker, and a novella with Binti by Nnedi Okorafor. Unfortunately, I can't say I was blown away by either book, but hey, I guess you can't love everything.
Next Month
Next month, I am hoping to be a bit more productive. I am halfway through Half a King by Joe Abercrombie and really enjoying it. It's very different to his First Law series in many ways, that shouldn't be unexpected as it is aimed at a much younger audience, and I am really enjoying it. I am also halfway through the audiobook version of Trollslayer by William King, which is giving me some serious nostalgia as it's an aboslute Warhammer classic. It might be 22 years old, but I'm still loving it!
I'm also planning on reading the next in the Binti series, Home. The first novella may not have blown me away, but I definitely think the series deserves some more time.
Hope you all had a great November and are looking forward to December and Christmas! I'm always interested in what you guys have been reading and what you think, so let me know in the comments if you've enjoyed (or not) any of the books I've read this month or posts I published.
