The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian tells the story of Marian, the Duchess of Clare, who is being blackmailed by Rob about her husband's infidelity. When she accidentally shoots her husband, the Duke of Clare, during a highway robbery gone wrong, Rob is the only person she can think to turn to. What results is a romance that neither of them were anticipating.

I loved this book. Cat Sebastian has created the perfect blend of historical fiction and romance with just a dash of Robin Hood mixed in. This was such a fun and entertaining novel full of surprises, deception and the most heart warming of romances.

I really liked Sebastian's writing style. She has a fast paced conversational tone to her writing which easily pulls you into the story and made this book such a joy to read.

Finally, the characters in this novel are incredibly loveable. Marian just wants some independence from the Duke who treated her horribly and while she has to go to some less than legal means to get it, that doesn't make her any less likeable. Rob is such a supportive and caring thief who only wants Marian to be happy and is always stealing to give to the less fortunate. I appreciated that Rob was bisexual and thought that Sebastian effortlessly included this aspect of Rob's character within the story. I liked how she emphasized that this did not have an impact on his relationship with Marian, as so many other books have a tendency to be biphobic and I was glad this one wasn't. Kit, Percy and Betty were also very entertaining characters.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast paced, fun and romantic historical adventure which is perfect for fans of the Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue.
