I can't believe this was 2 years ago now

Alright friends and strangers, it's the first Saturday of the month, half the country is underwater, WA has reopened to the universe after 2 years of hiding away, and within 24 hours of it opening, we lost one of the 301 greatest cricketers to grace Melville Cricket Club, Rodney Bacchus 'Iron Gloves' Marsh:

We can't quantify how many people thought Mitch and Shaun Marsh were getting Tests just because they were Rod's sons in that time Bacchus was Australia's chief selector....

For goodness sake, their dad is Swampy Marsh, Rod was Bacchus Marsh.

Moving on, the highlights of the upcoming day's racing are the Australian Guineas meeting at Flemington, which might be a fair bit dryer than the Group 1 double of the Randwick Guineas and the Canterbury Stakes at Randwick, which used to be the only decent day of racing that Canterbury Park had prior to 2006...

Now all they've got is a couple of Friday night meetings that end up as Heavy 10s.

Other than that, you'll notice that Ascot is playing host to this year's Bunbury Cup meeting, and you may be wondering why that has occurred, given there's several hundred kilometres between Bunbury and Ascot, well, it's because most of the area surrounding Bunbury Racecourse is earthworks.

Surely if you were moving a meeting from Bunbury, you'd meet each other halfway and run it at Pinjarra.

So enough of my crap, here's the thoughts of Crazy Craig with the Picks of the Day, fresh off a winning week after he inherited the good karma from his lottery ticket donation, and as always, here's Cliff Richard singing about a feature of his face, because he's got LUCKY LIPS!

Value Pick of the Day: Electric Girl (No.2, Barrier 4) in Race 4 at Flemington (MR4), 2:20pm AEDT

1400m Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes

Trainers: Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, Jockey: Damien Oliver, 58.5kg

Hello hello everyone, it's Crazy Craig TBFB, and as the world continues to offer up signs the apocalypse is just around the corner, it's time for another Super Saturday of racing, and let me tell you knackers, it's hard to find a track on the East Coast that hasn't been consumed by the recent extension of the Pacific Ocean!

So that said, I'll start off today with the Value Pick, and it's Group 2 winner Electric Girl in the Tressady Stakes at Flemington, and if I'm being honest after seeing the Melbourne forecast for Saturday, I'm a bit nervous of something named Electric having anything to do with water, but what do I care, I'm CRAAAAZY!

Anyway, the Tressady is a wide-open race this year, with the likes of Sirleo Miss and Annavisto both 1st Up, and to me, in a time like this, one shouldn't be afraid to go a bit wider and look for the value every once in a while, and for whatever reason, I like the Hawkes-trained mare, who comes to Melbourne after a 1st Up 3rd at Randwick behind Snapdancer, in conditions she wasn't totally suited to!

Now 2nd Up, senile citizen Damien Oliver climbs aboard, she's making the natural rise from 1200m to her preferred 1400m, she'll be up on speed, and obviously her 2nd Up record is a bigger question mark than Crazy Colin's cooking ability, but I think it's no reason that she can't run a game race and finish in the Top 11!

So for absolutely no properly good reason at all, Electric Girl is my VALUE PICK OF THE DAY.

Pick of the Day: Real Danger (No.7, Barrier 2) in Race 6 at Ascot (PR6), 3:55pm AEDT

1200m 59+ Rating Handicap William Barrett & Sons Vase

Trainer: Adam Durrant, Jockey: Clint Johnston-Porter, 54.5kg

On to the Pick of the Day, and after looking through my options, I've decided to outside the box and go to WA because the bastards finally opened up, and I've noticed a horse with a name that reminds me of what the barperson told me when I was kicked out of the Bowlo alongside Crazy Colin....

You're a REAL DANGER, Crazy Craig!

Yes, I haven't been back there much since then, and hopefully Real Danger proves to be a real danger to Darryl Kerrigan's favourite How's The Serenity, because the Durrant-trained mare didn't have to be dead to be stiff 1st Up, as she got caught 3 wide over the 1000 metres, had the blowtorch on her most of the way, and battled on well to run 5th, which naturally doesn't read as great form for any race, but if you ask me, you know what that performance gave the filly?

FITNESS.

Look at these things as positives knackers, POSITIVES!

With that run under the belt she goes straight from the 1000 to 1200 metres, and in her only previous 2nd Up run, she broke her maiden at Northam, albeit it was at 1100m, so we'll find out once and for all if she can run 6 furlongs, Clint Johnston-Porter, aka The Hyphenator, sticks aboard for this run after going on first time in that 1st Up run, she only rises from 54kg to 54.5kg, meaning she'll have a 4.5kg on How's The Serenity!

All that said, I think we'll be seeing a much better performance from the filly, and we'd bloody well better, because she's my PICK OF THE DAY.

I have noticed the second favourite for the race is Greece....

Would've been more appropriate if it was Ukraine!
