Austrian Hi-Fi specialist Pro-Ject Audio Systems has announced the Metallica Limited Edition turntable.
Designed in partnership with the world-conquering heavy metal band, the deck combines an eye-catching design with audiophile construction.
Handmade in Europe, the collector's item features a suitably heavy MDF plinth with unique Metallica design, and mirror finished, metal top plate. A glass platter ensures Pro-Ject Metallic graphics remain in full view when it's not spinning discs.
The turntable also boasts a diamond-cut aluminium sub-platter, which adds weight, to provide additional damping of noise and unwanted resonances.

There's more aluminium for the S-shape tonearm's base and bearing.
The Pro-Ject Audio Metallica turntable comes pre-adjusted with Pro-Ject's Pick it S2 C cartridge, out of the box. The S-shaped tonearm is fitted with a detachable SME headshell to allow quick cartridge changes. Tracking force and anti-skating are adjustable, to fine tune performance.
Pro-Ject says the super accurate pulley and supreme sub-platter ensures speed stability (wow & flutter: 33: +/-0,16%; 45: +/-0,14%), while height-adjustable heavy-duty metal feet help ensure it stays level on any surface.
A toggle switch changes between 33 and 45 RPM; Pro-Ject also includes a belt for 78 RPM (shellac) records.
Available from August, the Pro-Ject Audio Systems Metallica Turntable is priced at £1,149.
