Sophie Claire writes emotional stories set in England and sunny Provence, where she spent her summers as a child.

She has a French mother and a Scottish father, but was born in Africa and grew up in Manchester, England where she still lives with her husband and two sons.

Previously, she worked in Marketing and proofreading academic papers, but writing is what she always considered her 'real job' and now she's delighted to spend her days dreaming up heartwarming contemporary romance stories set in beautiful places.

My Review:

An Escape to Provence by Sophie Claire is the perfect romantic read to relax with as you sit by the pool this summer. There is a warmth to this author's writing that draws you into the lives of the characters from the outset, soon finding yourself emotionally invested in this unlikely couple and the choices they are about to make.

When divorce lawyer Daisy Jackson unexpectedly inherits a ramshackle old farmhouse in Provence, she decides to travel to the French countryside to oversee the renovations for herself. But Gabriel Laforet, a local builder with ties to the proper†y, has other ideas. Determined to thwart Daisy at every turn, he sets out to do everything in his power to preserve the charming farmhouse - a property he believes to be rightfully his.

But as the heat of the sun grows warmer, the pair find themselves inexplicably drawn to one another and, as they begin to work together, long hidden secrets begin to spill. As the magic of Provence and their shared love of the farmhouse starts to weave its spell, is it possible that Daisy is able to trust Gabriel with her fragile heart? Or is he about to risk everything they've started to build together - just so he can claim the farmhouse as his own?

What follows is a lovely, heartwarming and emotional tale that once started I did not want to end. I loved spending time with these characters and could quite happily have carried on reading about them forever! The beautiful setting of Provence, along with Sophie Claire's gentle writing and gorgeous characterisation, brings this charming tale vividly to life, leaving me with a warm feeling in my heart as I turned the final page.

An Escape to Provence is a beautifully written and gorgeous summer read that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. Pure escapism at its very best! I loved it.
