Thank You very much to the publisher – Titan Comics for the review copy. ISBN13: 978-1785861260 Genre: Comics / Graphic Novel Release date: 04 12 2020 Price*: Kindle £9.69 (GBP)/ Paperback £10.99 (GBP) Kindle $2.87 (USD)/ Paperback $7.89 (USD) Pages: ~ 112 My rating: Really liked it. You can get this book here: Amazon UK Titan Comics Website
Description of the book: Horizon: a far-future Earth full of epic natural beauty and forgotten ruins, where awe-inspiring, animal-like machines are the dominant species and humans struggle to survive in pre-industrial tribes. In the aftermath of a titanic battle that almost laid waste to the capital city of Meridian, Talanah, one of the greatest machine-hunters in the land, struggles to find her place in the rebuilding effort. Making matters worse, Aloy, her trusted friend and confidant, has disappeared. When a new threat emerges in the hinterlands, she must decide how best to serve her tribe, her friends, and herself.
How this book made me feel: I heard a lot about the Horizon Zero Dawn games, but I did not have an opportunity to play them. So I went in without proper knowledge about the setting of this book. I really liked what I discovered.
This book is not about Aloy, the protagonist in the game, it is about a lesser-known character called Talanah. She is a Sunhawk, a very experienced and respected warrior and leader, and Aloy's friend. While on contract to kill machines, she meets Amadis, together they are trying to avoid being killed by the machines as well as the people who want to kill Amadis. The characters are really fun and enjoyable and I really liked them.
The narrative of this book is very fast-paced and filled with action and fights. The characters are always running and fighting the machines. The world is unique, bringing you back to tribal times with brave warriors, at the same time the main enemy is mechanical dinosaurs. This book is divided into chapters, and this is a one-sitting read. I really liked the illustrations, this book has a lot of extra designs to show off in this book and I liked that.
So, to conclude, it is a book different to the game, it is about different characters, but I found them likeable and enjoyable. This comic is a very easy read and I think it would be a great fandom for all the game's fans. I hope you will give it a go and enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you for your time
