[New post] Today we say farewell to a legend

You may have noticed a lack of posting over the last month, part of this is due to burnout. With work, holidays, sickness, and interstate visitors all happening within the span of a couple of weeks it was easier to just couch surf than do anything productive.
However, the larger part of why I haven't written so much has been the unfortunate death of Roll to Review's mascot, and my dog, Chester.
It was quite sudden, up until 3 days before his death he was doing fantastic. We'd just changed his arthritis medication and his movement had much improved. However, out of nowhere, he started struggling to walk around, and after taking him to the vet they didn't find anything wrong with him.
Three days later we were given the awful choice between taking him by ambulance to the animal emergency hospital. Or to put him down.
After discussion with the vet, despite not knowing the root cause of the problem, they'd run exhaustive tests and concluded there was little likelihood he'd recover. Even if he did, he wouldn't survive much longer, and his health would be impacted.
C'est la vie.
We rescued Chester from the pound five years ago, and they were five brilliant years. He was lazy, but majestic, having the grace and style of Pierce Brosnan. And the attitude of a distinguished gentleman, a swag when he walked, and no tricks unless there was food involved.
He had a fear of heights, hated car rides, but loved his family. He always wanted to be in the same room with us and checked in on my son regularly throughout the night. He brought life and warmth into our home, whether it be rushing for the dirty dishwasher, stealing food, or snuggling up for a pat.
My favourite memory of Chester was when he stole corn on the cob from my niece and was running away from everyone. I couldn't stop laughing.
