I'm excited to welcome you today to my stop on the blog tour for the incredible Suicide Thursday by Will Carver. Thank you to Anne Cater and Orenda Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this darkly unique book.

About the book:

Eli Hagin can't finish anything.

About the author:

Will Carver is the international bestselling author of the January David series. He spent his early years in Germany, but returned to the UK at age eleven, when his sporting career took off. He turned down a professional rugby contract to study theatre and television at King Alfred's, Winchester, where he set up a successful theatre company. He currently runs his own fitness and nutrition company, and lives in Reading with his two children.

Will's latest title published by Orenda Books, The Beresford was published in July. His previous title Hinton Hollow Death Trip was longlisted for the Not the Booker Prize, while Nothing Important Happened Today was longlisted for the Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year. Good Samaritans was book of the year in Guardian, Telegraph and Daily Express, and hit number one on the ebook charts.

My Review:

Suicide Thursday is the latest stunning thriller by critically acclaimed author Will Carver. A shockingly dark and, especially when you consider the subject matter, surprisingly funny tale, this is a book that had me gripped from the very first page and didn't let go until the final thrilling page had been turned.

Meet Eli Hagin, a man who doesn't have the ability to finish anything. He hates his job, but doesn't have it in him to leave. Suicide Thursday is an incredibly difficult novel to review, as all of Will Carver's books are. It is so cleverly written, with a darkness running through it that makes for an uncomfortable read at times. Complex and thought provoking, this is a book that doesn't shy away from difficult subjects and is stark and unflinching in its delivery. Immensely readable and yet so difficult to describe, Suicide Thursday is one of those books that you can't stop thinking about long after the final page has been turned.

With Will Carver's writing getting better and better, Suicide Thursday is yet another dark and original thriller that's as laugh out loud funny as it is shocking. I don't want to say much more for fear of giving something away, so all I will say is that this book is sheer brilliance from beginning to end. I can't get enough of this author and his scathing and thought provoking insight into all aspects of human nature. What more can I say? Suicide Thursday is an addictive thriller that's unlike anything I've ever read before. An absolutely stunning novel that I would highly recommend. I loved it!
