There can be few more exotic places to watch a movie than in a jungle cinema in the Maldives… complete with its own Teppanyaki restaurant.
That's what luxury resort Vakkaru Maldives, in Baa Atoll, has added to its entertainment options this festive season.
Located in the middle of the island, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, Vakkaru's Jungle Cinema seats up to ten, and runs two screenings every night.
Vacationing film fans can select from the resort's extensive library - we recommend The Jungle Book, Jumanji or maybe Jurassic Park - and snack on popcorn, before enjoying an elaborate set menu dinner at Anguru, the resort's lush new teppanyaki restaurant.

(The restaurant moniker, by the way, is a reference to coconut shell charcoal, known as anguru in Maldivian, used locally for barbecues.)
Housed in a gazebo with a thatched roof near the main pool, diners can watch the chefs slice, dice and sear up close. The restaurant also seats ten and serves an à la carte menu like no other.
There's sushi, maki rolls, nigiri and sashimi for starters, followed by a choice of premium meats and fresh seafood, including Australian Wagyu, Angus beef, Maldivian tuna, Scottish Salmon, and Maldivian lobster.
Accompaniments include miso soup, teppanyaki grilled vegetables, Japanese pickles and Japanese fried rice.
Still have room? How about Flambé pineapple and ice cream stuffed with batter-fried profiteroles for dessert?
All of which has made us quite peckish. We're off for some nachos in the local Odeon...
