Do you ask yourself this question on a regular basis?
I often do and there are a number of reasons for why. It can be because I've read a book so amazing and nothing matches up to it. It can be because I simply don't know what to read, or am in a reading slump. Sometimes it's because the book I want to read isn't actually available yet and I can't think of anything else to read.
There are a huge number of reasons.
But what to do? You could simply use google, type in a search term such as "Books like Harry Potter" and see what comes up. You might get a huge number of recommendations from specialist sites where people have made lists.
There's Goodreads and Storygraph.
Goodreads often makes suggestions on the side of the page which can be based on you To Read Shelf, or Currently Reading Shelf, or the books you rated most highly. If you open the page for a book you enjoyed then you'll find suggestions on the side of the page, or at the bottom of it if you are using the app, which tell you which books other readers also enjoyed.
Storygraph does the same sort of thing and has different categories for making suggestions on the first page. They also have a tool for helping you discover what it is you feel like reading.
The social media pages for both these sites are helpful too as there is always someone willing to help if you comment on any of the posts. Bookbub is also helpful, making suggestions on a regular basis.
There are more traditional versions of searching for books. Go into the local bookshops and browse their best selling shelf, or have a look at any books they suggest. Libraries are the same, putting on display books on a theme, new releases, books of interest in general. If you're lucky, you might have a librarian or shop assistant who really knows their stuff and can help you choose.
