The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

What I Didn't Like:
- Unsolved, sort of. Riordan is famous for leaving us with cliffhangers. This is no different, I need book 3 now.
- I'm not as familiar with Norse mythology so I can't speak to how accurate it is (although I trust the author).
What I Did Like:
- Diversity, inclusion, and acceptance are always on full display in a Rick Riordan novel. It seems even stronger and more prevalent in the Magnus Chase series. I've told more than one person that the beauty of the mythology series (plural) from Riordan is that they take average kids from realistic backgrounds and thrust them into modern day mythology. It's beautiful and amazing. It might be the best thing going in middle grade or young adult fantasy. Ever.
- Snark, sarcasm, and humor. Don't downplay how funny these can be. It's laugh-out-loud amazing.
- Plenty of characters to fall in love with. Besides Magnus, who I adored from book 1, you also have his friends back and the addition of Alex (who is amazing). Add to that the casual mentions of other Rick Riordan characters and this is just an amazing cast.
Who Should Read This One:
- Fantasy fans. This should be the gold star staple of MG fantasy. Well, anything in this world (same world as his other famous series)
- Mythology fans will also enjoy the glimpse of Norse myths revamped.
My Rating: 4 Stars
- Seriously this series is chock full of amazing characters and diversity that make this a must read for fantasy and mythology fans.
