My Thoughts:
Alexa and India are sisters who even though they are still active in each other's lives, are not as close as they once were. They are both different in personalities which sometimes causes them to clash. When their parents win a cruise in a raffle, as they are unable to go themselves, they give it to their two daughters as part of a hen-do for India's upcoming wedding.
I have to admit that I was very similar in my thinking as the sisters when it comes to cruises. Not sure why but you automatically seem to think it is more for the older generation, maybe it once was but it certainly isn't like that anymore. If anything the author really sold a cruise to me as with all the activities and wonderful food and drinks, it sounded bliss! In fact, each chapter starts off with the name of a cocktail and what ingredients go in them. Only thing missing is the measurements so they could be a bit lethal if you try to make them yourself!
Whilst I could understand Alexa's feelings over her sister India, she was someone that grew on me throughout the story. The trip brings the sisters closer with spending quality time together although they still have the odd moments but it was lovely to see them getting along. Along with the sisters signing up to different talks and activities, Alexa meets Gabriel who is a very nice love interest indeed who not only set Alexa's heart a flutter but mine also.
Come Away With Me was a glorious read that took me away from my current surroundings and had me enjoying life on board. I was caught up in the day to day routines with the wonderful different destinations that grabbed my imagination. I loved getting to know Alexa and India and spending time with them, I wouldn't have liked their drinks bill at the end of it though! This is pure escapism that was highly entertaining with very likeable and relatable characters that will feel like family by the time you reach the end. Now to sign myself up to a cruise!
