I am SO excited for this round of the Queer Lit Readathon, my favorite readathon, as it is taking place throughout the entire month of June! Every QLR I struggle to try and complete a bingo, so this month I feel is my best chance to get a bingo (maybe even multiple!)
It's hosted by Kathy and Rogan with guest host Rachel of ReadswithRachel. All links go to the hosts' YouTube video where you can learn more about the readathon and the challenges!
I've been struggling a little bit with reading, so I'm only listing 5 books I want to read, but I have to imagine I'll read more throughout the month.
I'll be going for the bottom row for a bingo!
The Memory Librarian: And Other Stories of Dirty Computer by Janelle Monáe
Janelle Monáe created one of my favorite albums with Dirty Computer and really put everything into the interconnected music videos. It's all about memory, queerness, love and race surviving in a totalitarian state. This book has stories inspired by that setting with some amazing authors on the roster.
This counts for the prompts Short Stories, Intersectional, and Crime (I'm assuming, as the characters are often on the run from the cops in the music videos). This also counts for the Buzzword Readathon challenge of "Other."
Where Echoes Die by Courtney Gould
This is a YA sapphic thriller about two sister grieving the loss of their mother and going on a road trip to find out more about her. I received an eARC from the publishers and after loving The Dead and the Dark, I can't wait for this one!
This counts for the prompts Continued (reading the author, not it being a series) and Sapphic.
Junker Seven by Olive J. Kelley
Welcome to one of my most anticipated releases! I am so excited to read this lesbian sci-fi book! Castor is a bounty hunter who leads a quiet life until they get a new smuggling job, to smuggle activist Juno from the Galactic Police Force.
This counts for the prompts Intersectional, Nonbinary MC/Author, Sapphic, and Crime.
As You Walk On By by Julian Winters
I've heard a lot of good things about Julian Winters, especially this book, which is a YA book about what happens when your Perfect Plan doesn't go as planned.
Prompts fulfilled with this book: ??? (audiobook), Queer Friends, and Intersectional.
¡Hola Papi!: How to Come Out in a Walmart Parking Lot and Other Life Lessons by John Paul Brammer
I'm not sure when this memoir-in-essays caught my eye, but I've decided now is the time to read it!
This counts for both Intersectional and Memoir.
Are you participating in the Queer Lit Readathon? Do you have other reading plans for June? Have you read any of these before? Let me know in the comments below!
