While there is always going to be a place for new talent throughout the world of metal wherever we may go and whatever paths may be carved out, there will nothing quite be anything of the legends of decades past. In particular, death metal royalty has a tendency to stick around longer than many other styles out there with even many who call a quits returning in more than a few instances. Vomitory is certainly one of the better examples of that in just the last few years, and much like the return of the likes of Carcass, new music was certainly on the minds of many. As if we needed any confirmation as to how they would mark their comeback, Vomitory's return is just as bombastic and ferocious as we could possibly hope for!
Comeback albums are always a fascinating thing to witness given how they can usher in a new era for the band in question in several different ways as the style can change just as easily as the fresh mindset of the musicians back in the game. Suppose we are to take into consideration all that Vomitory has accomplished in their storied career. In that case, I don't think there are many who could even dare think that this new offensive would be anything short of right on par for what Vomitory has always been more than capable of: fiery, riff-driven death metal that holds nothing back whatsoever. In no small way, "All Heads Are Gonna Roll" lives up to that reputation without so much as breaking a single sweat. As if they picked up right where they left off "Opus Mortis VIII" twelve years ago, every little piece and morsel of "All Heads Are Gonna Roll" is precisely what it needs to be with the sound of the chugging chainsaw but one instrument in this macabre cacophony that never once holds anything back nor does it ever fail to deliver a performance that is as massive as it is intoxicating. The riffs are overflowing much like the bones and blood that fall to the ground in every single one of these ten tracks that are what many of us need more of from the wide realm of death metal. This is no surprise from the likes of Vomitory, but that doesn't make this creation any lesser of an absolute ripper for all the right reasons. Simply well-crafted and devilishly well-done death metal, it's only natural that we have gotten this album from the likes of Vomitory whose power clearly has yet to wane.
Even as time passes, the world of death metal as we know it still finds ways to impress us in the modern digital age where death metal is more widespread than ever before by a wide margin. The Swedes needed no help in perpetuating their own brand of death metal to a significant degree, yet that won't stop "All Heads Are Gonna Roll" from surely becoming a fan favorite amongst the modern rabble for this has got all the ferocity in all the right places with the talent and tenacity to match many times over.
