Based on a series of plausible events in a regional Victorian town
There was a saying that was once used on a dear horse named Clan O'Sullivan, who led most the way of the 1992 Golden Slipper, only to be run down by a certain Clarry Conners-trained horse by the name of Burst in the final 100 metres, that could be used to describe the Australian cricket team...
HEART AS BIG AS A ****IN' PEA.
They get paid seven figures to be the absolute best of the best, and they proceed to display the backbone of a jellyfish... it's why Australia got called The Lucky Country by Donald Horne, because we're run by second rate people who ride on luck and show next to no enterprise.
Anyway, what this has to do with horses I have no idea, because there's a weekend of racing to get through, and of course this is the penultimate Saturday of the 2022-23 season, with some mild Listed and Group racing to get through, plus the Mackay Cup.
- The Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield, typically a good starting point for the sprinters going deep into the Spring Carnival, and sometimes middle-distance runners who want to get run off their legs 1st Up.
- The Listed Winter Challenge at Rosehill, which will probably be won by an import, because that's exactly what happens in any race north of 1400m in this country
- And the last Listed race of the day is the H.G Bolton Sprint at Belmont, probably named after the former Premier League club, and I guarantee you it will be the best sporting event of the day in that Burswood area, because Fremantle vs the Sydney Swans sure as shit won't be.
Fun fact, just touching on the Mackay Cup, the day of the 2021 race was going to coincide with Ben and Harry McKay finally playing each other in an AFL game.... then Carlton withdrew Harry, and North Melbourne won easily, meaning Ben and Harry are still the same person.
So it's on to Crazy Craig, and where he is this week I don't know, and quite honestly I don't want to know, because he's probably dropping 50 dollar notes for luckless people to find.... but one thing he won't be giving away is his GOOD LUCK CHARM!
P(r)ick No.1: Kin (No.1, Barrier 12) in Race 6 at Caulfield (MR6), 3:05pm AEST
1100m 3YO Senet Gambling Law Experts Handicap
Trainer: James Cummings, Jockey: Celine Gaudray (a2), 58kg
Hello hello hello everyone it's Crazy Craig TBFB, Scratchie King of Bairnsdale, and it was a fitting tribute to The Gabster last week, as we managed to record two runner-up finishes from 3 bets, and by the end of the day, I'd spat at the TV...
Nothing to do with the horses losing, I was just sick of watching Essendon shit it up again!
Now, I best set the ball rolling and try and find a winner for the first time in 500 years, and starting off with the meeting at The Heath, I'd say if you want a horse who I think will ABSOLUTELY WIN on Saturday, then it has to be the little Godolphin filly Kin, especially after pissing it in last start...
Because if the filly doesn't win, then she'll be the second Kin to find herself in JEOPARDY, the first being Greg Kihn!
They don't write 'em like that anymore...
They just don't write 'em like that anymore!
P(r)ick No.2: Accapella Sun (No.6, Barrier 6) E/W in Race 6 at Rosehill (SR6), 2:10pm AEST
1200m F&M Precise Air BM78 Handicap
Trainer: Matthew Dale, Jockey: Amy McLucas (a3), 56.5kg
Knackers, we'll need a bit more than luck to win this one, so I'm going straight to the forces of Lucifer, Eddie The Head and all the members of Iron Maiden for help to win this race, because look at the numbers:
RACE 6.
NUMBER 6.
BARRIER 6.
6-6-6.
THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST!
Woe to you, oh Waverider Buoy!
P(r)ick No.3: Nerodio (No.1, Barrier 5) E/W in Race 8 at Belmont (PR8), 4pm AEST
I remember a saying during a History lesson in Year 11, back in the year 1936, which applies just as much to horses, if you're a lunatic like me...
NERODIO fiddled while Rome burned.
I think there's an Australian version of it... Scott Morrison holidayed while Australia burned!
Enjoy your Saturday folks, stay safe, stay negative, GAMBLE WITHIN REASON, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD, and remember, I'm Crazy Craig, and that's why they call me Craaaaaazy Craig!
