About the author:

Becky Hunter lived and worked in London for several years before moving to Mozambique to volunteer with horses and try her hand at writing.

A few years, a few destinations, and a few jobs later she had the idea that would become One Moment.

Alongside writing, she now works as a freelance editor and publicist, splitting her time between Bristol and London, and constantly trying to plan the next adventure.

My Review:

One Moment by Becky Hunter is an emotional debut that I completely and utterly adored from beginning to end. Beautifully written, it's a gorgeous but moving read that had me fighting back the tears as I turned the final page. The perfect read to curl up with this spring, there isn't anything I didn't love about this touching and poignant debut novel.

From the outset we are aware that Scarlett is about to die. That one moment is about to change everything. But that doesn't make it any easier when, on a day that should have seen her begin to fulfil her dreams, Scarlett's life is cut tragically short when she stops to help Nate, a young man who has just been knocked off his bike. But that one moment is enough to change the course of not only her own life but also the lives of those around her. And then, in the aftermath of her death, Scarlett finds herself as a spectator, looking on as the ripples of her death reverberate throughout the lives of all those that she loved…

Scarlett's best friend and flatmate Evie cannot even begin to contemplate her life without Scarlett. And she certainly can't forgive Nate, the man she blames for Scarlett's death. So as her life begins to spiral out of control, why does he keep popping up everywhere she goes, whether she wants him to or not? But before long Evie finds herself opening up in ways she would never have thought possible. Can she be brave enough to put the past behind her and move forward with her life at long last? Or is she destined to remain where she is for the rest of her life?

With a moving storyline and a simply unforgettable cast of characters, One Moment is one of those books that works its way under your skin as it lifts you up and sweeps you away on an emotional rollercoaster of a journey that is sure to melt even the hardest of hearts.

A heartachingly beautiful book that will break your heart into a million pieces before putting it back together again, One Moment is a life affirming and tender read about love, loss, grief, family and friendship that captures your heart from the very first page. Told from the alternating points of view of both Evie and Scarlett, this is a book that had me fighting back the tears as it moved towards an ending that took me completely by surprise.

Beck Hunter has written a stunning debut novel that blew me away and I can't wait to read whatever she comes up with next.
