Blurb:
After finding out that her husband was cheating on her, Ava Starling packed her things and never looked back. She always planned on coming home to run her family's seafood restaurant, but she never expected that she'd be doing it alone. Ava was finally in a good place; healing, no longer angry, peaceful and content.
At least that's what she told herself.
Until a grumpy fisherman showed up out of nowhere like an unexpected storm.
Tony Garcia had been running... from his past, from his future, from himself. When he settled in Port Rufton, the last thing he expected was someone like Ava. He'd closed himself off from everyone, convinced that he was better off alone. He tried his best to keep her at arms length, but women like Ava refused to be ignored.
Can he have a future with someone new when he's still stuck in the past?
My 4* Review:
Flirting With Sunshine is the next book in Jenn Sterling's Fun For The Holidays series. This is an enjoyable Mr Grumpy and Miss Sunshine story about Tony Garcia and Ava Starling. The hot new fisherman and the divorced restaurant owner.
"I always knew though that I'd eventually run to you instead of run from you. "
Ava had returned home to run the family restaurant after a nasty divorce. She has bought fresh fish from Tony everyday in the last nine months but finds him so frustrating. Her friends know she likes him and all the guys at the docks all know he likes her. Ava wonders if he was like her and his marriage ended badly or was he running away from something.
For Tony, being a fisherman in Port Rufton was his escape from everything that had happened. He was attempting to live a normal life with his dog Barley. He feels happiness is the last thing he deserves so fights his growing feelings for Ava. Tony is a complicated guy haunted by his past and he doesn't know how to let go. He wants her but can't see a way forward due to the guilt he carries.
Fellow fisherman and Ava's friend Rory is a real laugh. He is positive both deserves to be happy so sets about matchmaking the pair. He certainly gives Tony the incentive to try for Ava and winds him up so well !!
One evening an event sends everything between them into chaos and everything is turned upside when their pasts collide. Feelings are dredged up, leaving them both humiliated and embarrassed. Their peace is destroyed when revelations are exposed.
Can she find a way to help him cope with the guilt and move on. He wants to try as needs to forgive himself but doesn't know if it's possible. Can she guide him from his darkness and bring him into her light?
A fun quick easy read as they produce magic together. I liked how they took each day as it came so they could figure it out as their relationship developed. I also loved their lighthearted way of honouring his past. He might be a rain cloud and she the sun, but together they're a rainbow.
