Welcome to Charmed Cove!

A fictional town based in North Carolina.

Twelve bestselling romance authors bring you a new short story each month from the residents of Charmed Cove.

This story comes from J.H. Croix.

These are all-new characters you've never met before but some of the characters from the earlier months do make an appearance.

Blurb:

A second chance for a couple of high school sweethearts.

My 4* Review:

Worth The Wait by J.H. Croix is August's short story in the My Hometown Season One Series. This is an unexpected second chance at love for Laney Alden and Colin James who both grew up in this fictional small town.

Laney owns the coffee shop in Charmed Cove and has not seen Colin for ten years so was shocked when he appeared on the dock one day. They had a history together as they'd been high school sweethearts and madly in love. When they graduated they had broken up but on good terms because she was going off to college and he was going into the military. They'd kept in touch but not regularly.

She'd had to return to Charmed Cove as her mother was ill and ended up never leaving. She had never forgotten about Colin and missed him terribly but never thought he would ever come back home. She hasn't really dated anyone since she moved back because no one lived up to him.

He is home for good as now a civilian at a local base but working remotely. He's missed her so much as no one is like her and she's the only girl he's ever loved.

If you have read the previous short stories then you will recognise her best friends Elena and Evie. The girls had always thought Lacey and Colin were good together especially as he was always kind to Laney at school. It was nice seeing how Elean and Callum are getting on and I giggled at them teasing Evie about Beck. Colin's mum also gives him a few home truths because she always thought Laney was the perfect girl for him.

She feels the pull towards him and their youthful kisses are now breath stealing encounters. Both are surprised at this second chance but can they forget about all the what ifs and enjoy the now.

Enjoy their journey back together and the sweet ending giving this couple their HEA.
