Tanya Bowe, ex-journalist and recent divorcee, runs a vintage shop in the little seaside town of Seacastle. When an old friend asks to rent some space in her building, strapped-for-cash Tanya jumps at the chance. Lexi is organising a campaign to protect the kelp beds growing off the coast of the town. Celebrity eco warrior David de Frontenac hopes to convince the council to back his plan, but the local fishermen are furious. As tempers flare, Tanya and the locals are forced to take sides. When a murder focuses minds, Tanya must find the killer - or risk her friends being charged.
This investigation, Tanya's second, is more personal. It involves her own friendship group, and she cannot afford to fail. Roz's husband Ed is the first to be suspected. Will the police accept an easy arrest - or can Tanya convince her ex-husband to look into the case further?
I felt that Tanya grew into a more confident individual, and as a result her investigation was more accomplished. She began to believe in her own abilities - but had the sense to ask for help when it was needed. Harry was there for her, and his quiet strength allowed her to flourish. Again her friends stepped up, and their support and practical assistance helped her solve the case. All of the characters became more rounded and familiar and I look forward to more investigations with them in the future.
