After three years away, having been assumed dead, Sherlock Holmes turns up at 221b Baker Street alive and well. Well, physically. As he struggles to deal with the events at Reichenbach falls, he throws himself back into his work. When Percy Simmons shows up at his door looking for help with a very unusual problem, he is intrigued. The leader of London's Theosophical Order of Odic Forces claims the occult has caused strange happenings to members of the society. Can Holmes solve the case before anyone else is harmed? And in doing so, can he heal his own mind?
I enjoyed this story. It was imaginative and effortlessly took me to Baker Street and the streets of London. The author captured Holmes and his voice well, and Watson was beautifully portrayed too.
I could hear Holmes and became engrossed in the story. The time was well captured and the historical detail perfect.
Although quite a short novel, I felt the story was well told and could imagine it as part of the Jeremy Brett series quite easily. I look forward to more in this vein.
I was given this ARC to review.
