Still such a beautiful book. I believe so staunchly that you should go in blind, but if you're reading a second review instead of the first, then maybe you can stand for some light spoilers.
This is arguably the most beautiful book I've ever read. Quite possibly my favorite book I've read in the past 10 years.
Ultimately, I'm a romantic. I love a grand gesture, and this book is nothing but grand gestures.
I was a little worried that re-reading it wouldn't have the same magic as the first time. And as I began, I wasn't feeling that same buzz I felt the first time. But then it came back. Then there was the nuance. Then there were the small little love-struck details.
In between the last time I read it and now, the book began to blow up. And the tweet the blew up took the same stance I did: Don't read anything about the book. Just read it.
So I stand by what I said: just read it.
Also, this is now review SIXTY-ONE for the year. 60 overall is a good year, much less a good nine months. I don't think I'll stay on pace for 80 as my teaching load picks up, but I think 70 is in the bag.
A weird year in some many ways, but a lot of wins along the way including many a book read. Or many a read book.
