I'm pleased to welcome you today to my stop on the blog tour for the surprisingly moving Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge by Rachel Barnett. Thank you to Tracy Fenton and Embla Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
About the book:
Three friends. One Christmas escape. A week that will see their lives changed forever...
Making headlines is something socialite Tania knows all too well. After her latest scandal goes too far, she decides the perfect solution to her problems lies in a remote ski lodge away from the cameras.
Clara is learning to take each day as it comes after a sudden tragedy rocked her whole world. A trip to the French Alps couldn't have come at a better time, a chance to heal and get back on her feet.
To her friends, Rose is the glue that keeps the group together. The first person they call in times of need and one always to put others before herself - even if it comes at the cost of her own secret heartache.
As Clara, Rose and Tania head to Snow Pine Lodge, what waits for them there is far more than the relaxing break they were expecting. Between uninvited guests, a brewing snowstorm and old secrets bubbling to the surface, these women will need to lean on their friendship more than ever before if they're to face up to their pasts and fight for the relationships they really want...
A festive new novel from Rachel Barnett about love, self-discovery and the power of friendship to blissfully lose yourself in this Christmas, perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan, Jennifer Bohnet and Cathy Bramley.
About the author:
Rachel Barnett is a former primary school teacher who is lucky enough to live in the spectacular Wiltshire countryside; she can see the tip of the Salisbury Cathedral spire from the top of the hill behind her house. She shares her home with a black Labrador who is an expert on snoring (oh, and the rest of the family, too).
She writes contemporary women's fiction set against wonderful escapist backdrops.
Rachel is a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association.
My Review:
Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge by Rachel Barnett is the perfect read to escape with as the nights grow colder and we move towards the festive season. It's never too early to read a story set at Christmas, and this one is a heartwarming, moving tale that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end!
In Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge we join three friends as they embark on a trip that will change their lives forever. After a scandal that has gone too far, socialite Tania is hoping the perfect solution lies within the walls of the remote ski lodge, far away from the prying eyes of the press. Then there is Clara whose whole world has been rocked by a sudden tragedy that has turned her life upside down. And finally we have Rose, the glue that holds the three friends together, but who is harbouring a secret heartache of her own.
As the three friends head to Snow Pine Lodge they're unaware that what waits for them there is far more than the relaxing break they're expecting…
Oh my word, what an absolute gem this book is from start to finish! Set against a beautiful snowy backdrop, Rachel Barnett has written a warm and heartfelt story with love, loss, friendship and romance at its heart. With a larger than life cast of characters and a surprisingly moving story of friendship, romance and new beginnings, this is a book that will leave you with a warm glow as you turn the final page.
I loved everything about Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge. From dealing with grief, to learning about the importance of friendship, to a fine sprinkling of romance, Rachel Barnett has written a deeply emotional tale that was far from the light and fluffy read I expected it to be - and I loved it!
Starlight at Snow Pine Lodge is a heartwarming and surprisingly moving festive read that I would highly recommend.
