Book Description:
Family is everything…
For years, Gemma has been running her late mother's café with devotion, and when an opportunity comes to buy out her next-door neighbour and expand, she jumps at the chance.
She knows she will do her mother proud – keep her legacy going strong – but deep down she knows there's still something missing.
But sometimes family are those you choose, or those who choose you! With a growing community of supporters cheering Gemma on, will she really spend the rest of her life alone?
And with some new faces at her blossoming bistro, perhaps romance may also be on the cards?
My Thoughts:
In this story we meet Gemma who runs the local café that's situated close to the beach. I really envied Gemma living in the flat above it with the wonderful scenic views from the windows. It had me wishing that I could easily pack up my life and move near to the sea.
This is a small community where everyone knows each other of which Gemma's sister also lives close by running the local B&B. It was lovely getting to see characters we had met in the first book in the series as well as new ones in the form of fire officer Jude Adams and his daughter Occy. Whilst this is the second in the series. It easily reads as a standalone as its a self contained story focusing on different characters.
There are some highs and lows for some of the characters of which some parts had me howling in laughter whilst others gave me a lump in my throat. The closeness of the two sisters was heart-warming to read of and if anything, the whole story gives you a real sense of family. There is also some great friendships of which I think will have readers hopefully appreciating the good friends they have in their lives.
Finding Family at the Cornish Cove was one of the most uplifting and wonderful stories I've read this year. It has everything I look for in this genre with firm friendships, humor, some romance but first and foremost a protagonist that readers are able to relate to and route for. The epilogue was so powerful and beautifully written, it took my breath away with the emotions it had me feel. A novel that is guaranteed to lift your heart and make you smile!
My thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to be part of the tour. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
