Blurb:
Ruthless. Arrogant. Ice cold.
Everyone warned me that the CFO of McCord Media was a nightmare to work for. I knew it going in, but I figured I could keep my head down and stay under Cole McCord's radar.
I figured wrong.
Because a month before I started as his assistant, Mr. Ruthless and I spent one scorching hot night together in bed.
In my defense, I had no idea that the gorgeous stranger I hooked up with at my girlfriend's birthday party would turn out to be my new boss. But company policy forbids work relationships, so it's strictly business from now on.
If only we could stop falling into bed together.
If only he didn't make me feel things I've never felt before.
If only he wasn't keeping a secret that could destroy us both.
My 5* Review:
Fall Into You by J.T. Geissinger is book two in her Morally Gray series about the McCord brothers. In Liars Like Us we met Callum, the oldest brother and his obsession Emery. This time we have the middle brother Coleton "Cole" McCord and his one night stand Shayna "Shay" Sanders. A very steamy standalone about Cole and Shay, which is full of hilarious banter but also has some dark themes running through the story. I absolutely loved this couple and they made me laugh so much.
"If I fall into you, promise you'll catch me."
Shay is out celebrating her friend's birthday but she's still recovering from an awful ex so is not in the mood to party. The group notice a gorgeous guy sitting alone and Chelsea bets her to talk to him. The stranger gives off an unpleasant dark and terrifying vibe but also looks as miserable as she is. She portrays a tough exterior but is very wary of this dangerous man and calls him strange. He's mesmerised by her and is actually very perceptive under his cold and arrogant ways. The sparks between them ignite straight away, they both feel a connection and really like each other. He tries to convince her it's not a good idea but they end up having an amazing one night stand.
Cole is the demanding and grumpy CFO of McCord Media with a reputation for being difficult to work for. He needs a new assistant and is shocked when the one woman he thought he'd never see again walks into his office. Shay is hurt at his attitude towards her but stands up to him and the fun really begins. She knows he has secrets but refuses to believe they can't work through things together. Cole is sure she wouldn't want him if she knew the truth and feels he doesn't deserve her.
I loved the way he sidesteps all her questions and fights his desire for her but she knows what she wants and is a tenacious woman. It was great how she pulled smiles and laughs out of him. She's never been lucky in love or life so knows it will be hard with him but knows he is worth the effort.
Events pull them together even though he tries to resist especially as she reminds him of everything he can't have. What happens when his control snaps? Will she be able to accept the monster inside him?
We learn some more about Carter, the youngest McCord and he is quite a character. It was lovely seeing Emery again and I giggled at her joke about sexy stalkers. Cole's best friend Axel was very intriguing and I hope we get more of him. My heart broke for his other friend Kiyoko and her story gives a real insight into way Cole is the way he is.
This couple are so entertaining and even when things don't go Shay's way, she never gives up. Being in dual POV really makes the story as you follow their intense and emotional journey. I felt the epilogue was a sweet ending to their story and was so pleased they get their HEA. I wanted to hug them both and congratulate Shay for loving Cole the way he deserved. This talented author and her characters just get better and better each book and I can't recommend her enough.
