I'm finally back atcha with a Monday Mood post. It's been a while! Work, classes, mini-traveling, and writing (yes, writing!) have all kept me incredibly busy. Keep reading for the normal updates, a review, and some cat pictures!
What I'm Reading:
This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron
I've been wanting to read this one for a while, and it didn't disappoint! I absolutely love Briseis's magic, the mansion, and pretty much everything about this book. It had a lot of twists and turns and WHAT A CLIFFHANGER. I'm so excited for book two (which thankfully, I have) because I need answers!
What The River Knows by Isabel Ibanez
Thanks to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for this free digital copy in exchange for an honest review! This book is available now!
OH WOW TALK ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS. Okay, obviously I won't give anything away (besides the fact that this ends on a cliffhanger, sorry) but I was so taken by this book. I read it in a day because I could not stop thinking about it.
This book is described as "The Mummy meets Death on the Nile" and yep, that's accurate. The magic is fascinating, the story is engaging, and the romance is slow-burning and swoony. Inez has my heart and I just want to hug her and be her friend. Plus, the setting? 1800s Egypt? Ibanez wrote such beautiful descriptions that I felt like I was there. Just like This Poison Heart, this story has so many twists and turns, and many that I absolutely didn't see coming. I don't want to wait until the next one, but I'm excited that there WILL be a sequel!
What I'm Listening To:
Taylor Swift. 1989. Duh. The vault tracks? Chef's kiss. My favorites in order:
Is It Over Now?
Now That We Don't Talk
Slut!
Suburban Legends
Say Don't Go
What I'm Watching:
Charmed! The OG version. This is such a nostalgic show for me, and I love watching it in the fall. And summer. Winter. You know, all year round.
NaNoWriMo/Writing Update:
I'm participating (read: trying to) in NaNoWriMo this year! I'm very behind at about 4000 words, and I'm working on a romantasy! Although...part of me really wants to scrap it and write a pop star/football player romantic comedy because...well, you probably know. The goal is to get back on the NaNo writing wagon this week!
Also, I took a writing class recently, and I think I'm feeling like I want to share some of it soon!
