I (Briana) have not had a particularly good blogging or reading year. It's been a struggle for me to even find enough time to sleep, so when I have a free hour here and there, it's always an internal debate whether I should use it reading, watching a movie I want to see, writing, or possibly just staring blankly into space. However, Krysta has done a great job keeping our blog afloat these past couple months of the year mainly by herself, so I figure I can at least muster the energy to put together my year-end post summing up everything that happened on Pages Unbound in 2023.
Favorite Books Read in 2023
I didn't get around to doing a blog post for this, so I'll list a few favorites here (alphabetical by author last name):

BLOGGING STATS AND FACTS
TOP 4 COUNTRIES FOR VISITORS
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Canada
- India
*(No change from 2018-2022)
TOP REFERRERS
- Search engines (by far!)
- Pinterest (I've done basically nothing with Pinterest all year, but it's still sending us a noticable amount of traffic from the year I went all-out on it. Read more about how I did that here.)
- WordPress App and Reader
- Tales from Absurdia (over 2000 views from being listed on John's blog!!!)
Twitter (or X) used to be on this list, but it got knocked down to about 600 views this year, which may be a combination of my lack of activity and the new algorithm. It's basically on par with Facebook, which seems ridiculous.
BLOG VIEWS AND NUMBER OF PUBLISHED POSTS
~179,000 views. A little lowever than 2022, which was our biggest year, but we also posted significantly less in 2023, which likely explains the difference. We only published 189 posts in 2023, compared to 279 in 2022.
Our Most Viewed Posts i 2023
READING STATS AND FACTS
- Longest Book Briana Read: Painted Devils by Margaret Owen
- Briana's Pages Read: ~10,500
- Percentage of Briana's Books from Library: I didn't keep track, but practically none. I didn't read as much as usual, and my current library either doesn't have the books I want or never has them in.
Coming Next Year?
Usually I plug our annual Tolkien Reading Event here. We hold it in March for Tolkien Reading Day. However, I am on the fence about hosting it in 2024, so if you have thoughts, leave them in the comments!
