Review:
When I first started reading this I thought it would be similar to The Thursday Murder Club but it's actually quite different. Yes, there's a murder, and yes, it gets solved by civilians, but they're all different ages and different people and I really enjoyed the book.
It did start off slow, establishing the characters, and setting the scene with the murders but towards the middle and end of the book I was really hooked into the story.
I didn't find myself gelling with the characters as much, but I really wanted to find out who the killer was and that's why I kept reading. I definitely didn't work it out and that shows you it's a good mystery.
Robert Thorogood is the creator of Death in Paradise so I know he can write a good murder mystery story anyway.
I would be interested in reading more of the series but I liked it as a stand alone for now, it ended on a great note despite us still not knowing things about Judith's past. I would have preferred answers but we can't all be choosers.
4/5 stars!
Slow start, great mystery, and an unlikely group of friends.
Thanks for reading!
