What I learned from this book: Pick your battles.
Description of the book: Ishmael is looking for work at sea and joins Captain Ahab and his crew aboard the magnificent ship, the Pequod. Here Ishmael hears stories of the dangerous white whale – Moby Dick. When Ahab seeks revenge on the creature that took his leg, will the crew survive their fateful encounter? Or will this be another cautionary tale to be passed through the ages?
How this book made me feel: Did you enjoy reading classics when you were young? I know I hated them! I found them boring and very long. But I loved reading classics adapted to children! When I was growing up we had a series called "Illustrated Classics" and I adored them, those were the books that showed me how fun classics can be. I really enjoyed this book, the story is flowing beautifully and the characters are really enjoyable. It felt like a very well-summarised book without the parts that children (and some adults) would find boring. I really liked the illustrations as well, there was a good text-illustration ratio in this novel.
So, to conclude, I really enjoyed this book, I liked the characters, the atmosphere was very well set up and the plot was easy flowing and very well delivered. If you would like to introduce some classics to your child, this book is perfect: sailor's life, whale hunting and ships, what else would a kid need? 😀
Thank you for your time! ❤
