The Allure of the Vampire:
Vampires have long captivated the human imagination with their timeless allure, and Catherine Green's Redcliffe novels series is no exception. In her books, vampires play a central role, adding layers of mystery, danger, and seduction to the supernatural tapestry. But what is it about vampires that continues to captivate readers and weave them into the fabric of popular culture?
The excerpt from Catherine's upcoming novel, "Bite of the Wolf," offers a glimpse into the complex relationships and power dynamics between the characters. Marcus, a vampire, shares intriguing insights into the ongoing supernatural saga, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. The allure of the vampire lies not only in their immortality and supernatural abilities but also in the rich narratives that explore the intricacies of their existence.
Enduring Attraction to Werewolves:
While vampires reign with elegance and mystique, werewolves bring a primal, untamed energy to the paranormal landscape. In the Redcliffe novels series, werewolves, especially alpha wolf Danny Mason, are an integral part of the supernatural world. The excerpt reveals a web of secrets, betrayals, and a brewing war that keeps readers hooked on the edge of the supernatural precipice.
How They Fit into UK Fiction:
Set against the backdrop of the UK, Catherine Green's Redcliffe novels seamlessly integrate the supernatural into the everyday. The characters navigate both the mundane and the magical, adding a layer of realism to the fantastical elements. The excerpt introduces us to the complex social structure of the supernatural world, with its hidden nightclubs, ancient rivalries, and impending conflicts. This fusion of the mystical and the familiar is what makes UK paranormal fiction, especially the Redcliffe novels, so captivating.

Exclusive Excerpt from "Bite of the Wolf":
He made a great show of pulling his phone from his pocket and tapping on the screen. We heard a pinging sound as the message reached Jack and Danny's phones.
"Thank you," Jack said.
"I had an interesting conversation with young Mary," Marcus said, "When she allowed me to speak."
He looked directly at me and I gasped when an image appeared in my mind, of Marcus bound in chains, naked, with blood dripping from his face. I saw a shadowy figure beside him, a woman dressed in what looked like black leather underwear. Shaking my head vigorously, I tried to shake the image from my mind, desperate to dislodge the potent lust that had lashed my body with it. I glared at Marcus, throwing more electrical energy towards him, smiling wickedly when it hit his body and he winced in pain.
"Don't do that again," I ordered in a low growl.
"Sorry, witch," he murmured, although he looked anything but.
"Marcus," Jack said sharply, "What did you talk about with Mary?"
The vampires faced each other now, one angry and sullen, the other mischievous and very pleased with himself.
"She told me about her fling with a new wolf in the pack," Marcus said, "one who had travelled from England and sought protection from a new family. His name was Adam Potts."
I frowned, completely confused now, and I looked to Jack and Danny for help.
"Adam Potts is my alter ego," Danny explained, glancing at me half apologetically, "The name I used while I was in Glasgow. The name we both used." He glanced at Jack, who nodded agreement.
"Yes," Marcus continued, walking slowly across the room and returning to his place on the sofa, "She was a little bit infatuated with you, I believe. And she needed to release a lot of pent-up anger and disappointment when you left."
"You didn't tell her the truth about us," Jack asked in a heavy voice, "Did you, Marcus?"
"Oh no," the vampire replied, "I would never betray my friends."
He emphasised the word friends, and he made direct eye contact with Jack and Danny in quick succession.
"She already knew about the Mason brothers," Marcus continued, "Seamus Tulley left her in charge when he came to Redcliffe seeking revenge. She was tasked with rebuilding their broken wolf pack and redirecting the business through her own nightclub. The authorities rarely bothered her there, you see. It was forbidden to humans, and the police gave it a wide berth."
"Why didn't you know about the club?" I asked suddenly, and then immediately wished I hadn't when Jack and Danny both glowered at me.
"We did know about the club," Jack said through clenched teeth, "But like I said, we thought I had killed her. The club wasn't important at that time."
I nodded and realised that I needed to sit down. My legs felt weak and my heart was pounding heavily. I moved slowly, not focusing, and sank down onto the sofa, barely noticing how close I was to Marcus. Danny moved over to the armchair and perched on the seat, his body tense. Jack hovered near the window, watching Marcus and me. He always had a strange kind of respect for the older vampire. I realised that he didn't like me being so close to Marcus, but he wasn't about to try and move me, either. That was interesting.
"What did she tell you, Marcus?" Danny asked, trying to sound friendly and relaxed, "She must know the truth about us by now."
Marcus nodded.
"She knows your true identities," he confirmed, "Seamus Tulley kept her well informed when he discovered your betrayal. She knew who Jack was when they tried to kill each other. Did you know that, Jack?"
I looked at my boyfriend, who shifted uneasily beneath our gaze. He looked more human, suddenly, and I found that very strange in the circumstances. He must have been really upset to learn that he hadn't killed the rival werewolf.
"No," he said after a pause, "She called me Adam throughout the whole thing."
"She is smart," Marcus said, "I know that much. Well, she had prepared to take over the wolf pack, such as it was, but she is still very raw about the whole episode. She certainly took out some rage on me, I can tell you. What a week that was!"
He stared into space for a few moments, a faint smile on his face, and I squirmed uncomfortably beside him. I did not want him projecting another of those horrific images into my mind, and I threw up a protective shield of magical energy.
"Did she say anything else, Marcus?" Danny asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
Marcus turned his face slowly towards my alpha.
"Yes," he said, his eyes bright and icy, "As a matter of fact, she did. This war is not over, apparently. She is biding her time, building her army, but she wants the Mason brothers dead. And she wants to be the one that kills you both."
