A band's evolution is always something fascinating to behold. At any given time, a band's trajectory can shift for any possible reason be it the simple desire to try something sonically different or it happen by pure happenstance. One can start off on one end of the metal spectrum only to find itself on the complete other side while others go for a more conservative approach that can still be just as effective. Kings Winter had their feet firmly planted in power metal in my eyes when they first started out, but it's now that they've made the smooth but wondrous transition to their more heavy-metal-oriented tendencies to make their forthcoming effort even more interesting as well as their most compelling yet.

The very trajectory of Kings Winter has been promising since day one, and the trends of their quality have only seen the band get better and better with time. Despite having only put out their first piece of material four years ago with their first full-length album two years after that, Kings Winter poised itself for excellence right out of the gate with time only allowing them to really come into their own. For the whole of these eight tracks, Kings Winter shows us time and again why they are absolutely a need-to-know up-and-coming act that is not to be denied whether it comes to infectious power, excellent melody, impeccable songwriting, or something in-between. What's been conjured forth to bring "The Other Side of Fear" to life can't be seen as anything other than an exemplary display of mastery. Kings Winter has never been an act to underestimate, but it is with every given facet of this creation that they've cemented themselves as a name that demands to be respected and heard as it's through tremendous riffs, gorgeous vocals, and a nature that's downright intoxicating from the beginning as Kings Winter impresses and satisfies at every given turn. No massive frills or an attempt to do something grandiose other than to perpetuate that good old-fashioned heavy metal with a fresh coat of paint, "The Other Side of Fear" has a lot to offer should you simply allow Kings Winter to take you wherever they may.

After years of foundational work and showing us what they're made of, "The Other Side of Fear" certifies Kings Winter as one of heavy metal's most underrated acts with every given track here showing us precisely what this band has been culminating over an admittedly short run thus far. Yet, "The Other Side of Fear" showcases Kings Winter as a name that demands to be respected from top to bottom.

"The Other Side of Fear" releases on January 28th!
