Max Lucado offers up another short piece that is sure to stir the emotions of many readers during the holiday season. Looking at three vignettes, the protagonist explores his own life through the experiences he witnesses while away from home. Lucado delights readers with his writing style in this touching short piece.
When a journalist from Chicago finds himself in a small Texas town around Christmas, his loneliness makes him search out something to make him feel better. He comes across a number of locals, all of whom recount their own stories of the holidays season. While there is little he can do, the journalist listens and remembers some of his own life experiences, rethinking how he might handle them. This touching piece is impactful, even if it short. Max Lucado shoes his abilities so effectively here.
While I was looking for some holiday reading, I stumbled upon this piece. I had not read Max Lucado's work before this season, but have been impressed with his writing. While it is highly religious-based, it pushes my emotional buttons and kept me intrigued as I read. Lucado does well with a strong narrative, decent characters, and a strong message that is woven into each part of this piece. I will have to return in future holiday seasons to see how the impact lingers.
Kudos, Mr. Lucado, for a great piece to warm my heart.
