Highland Park 18 Year Old Single Malt, £140
As Burns Night approaches, Highland Park 18-Year-Old stands as a fitting tribute. This exceptional single malt, bottled at an approachable 43% ABV, embodies the five keystones of production, resulting in a sophisticated medley of ripe cherries, bittersweet cocoa, honeycomb, and candied orange peel.
Look for honey and peat on the palate, with stewed fruits and a hint of coffee. The finish is long, with smoke and toffee undertones
Availability: Priced at £140, you can pick up this Scotch from The Whisky Shop, Master of Malt, and The Whisky Exchange.
Darkness Single Malt 8 year old, £49.95
At the core of this award-winning Darkness expression is an eight-year-old single malt Scotch whisky matured in ex-bourbon barrels. Following that, the whisky is moved over to custom-made Oloroso sherry octave casks for at least three months.
Small casks make for a vastly increased surface area to volume ratio compared to the much larger sherry butts, leading to more cask influence and more of those intense sherried notes we've all come to know and love.
Non-chill filtered, this 47.8% ABV expression boasts a nose of candied orange peel, peanuts, and cooking spice on the nose, and amaretti biscuits, with subtle toasty hints on the palate. Whether sipped neat or in a Highball, Darkness 8-Year-Old promises an exceptional sherried dram for the price.
Availability: Priced at £49.95, from The Whisky Shop and Master of Malt.
