Quickly can a name rise through the underground to become a surprising entity that people absolutely flock towards. It takes the right measurements of timing, talent, consistency, and more than a little bit of luck. By all accounts, Black Sky Giant has been blessed with all of them as it has been over the years that the name has garnered quite a following with each new release an event that is always something to take note of simply because of how tantalizing the act has become in hardly any time. Continuing a tradition of a new year with a new record, it's now with their sixth creation that we see Black Sky Giant continue its excellence with all haste.
Once again following a story through a voiceless medium that allows for true imagination and unique visages going from one listener to another, "The Red Chariot" allows Black Sky Giant to once again further hone their craft. The band was already a force not to be underestimated years ago, but it is with every subsequent record that we're able to witness the very talent of Black Sky Giant grow into a stupendous behemoth that always has so much to offer with "The Red Chariot" easily another testament to that growth. A delightful blend of much of what this act has always been capable of, these eight tracks combine doom, stoner rock, old school heavy metal, and more than a little bit of psychedelics brought together in an instrumental form to really tickle the brain and entice the listener ever deeper into their realm where anything feel possible. The sound of the motorcycle across interstellar red dirt as you approach the revered mountain god is the spirit of all that "The Red Chariot" dares to become with Black Sky Giant yet again the perfect vessel to bring such a glorious vision to a story that is gripping from beginning to end even without a proper narration, yet Black Sky Giant has refined that art practically into a science.
The years have been incredibly kind to the band with their sound evolving over that time. Should you need any proof to that concept, "The Red Chariot" is all you should ever require. A gorgeous blend of all that this particular corner of the underground has long been able to throw down, Black Sky Giant stands as a real champion of the people to constantly deliver magnificence in such a form that is simply the definition of intoxicating.
