My Review
This is book #21 of the Kane and Alton series. Whilst it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone book. We are back in serial killer central at the spookiest time of the year. A young woman has gone missing and Sheriff Jenna and Deputy Dave are on the case. They are also looking into the discovery of old graves in the forest and it looks like everything may be linked!
Black Rock Falls is a creepy place to live, even more so at Halloween. The book sends shivers down your spine with all the normal spooky goings on of the dressed up shops and costumed townsfolk, but add in another serial killer and the creepiness is turned up a notch. The story begins quickly with the disappearance of Freya Richardson and the following investigation into it. The chapters are interspersed with the killer's perspective, but you are kept wondering throughout who the killer could be. We get to see all of our favourite characters back for this investigation with Rio and Rowley involved, along with FBI Agents Jo Wells and Ty Carter.
The storyline twists and turns with more murders and we follow Kane and Alton around the town following up leads to try and save the next victim before it's too late. It's a gripping, atmospheric read with lots of scares and frights, alongside some gruesome murders. Full of twists and turns, this will definitely put you off having a shower! Would recommend!
