Adam Mansbach tackles this in a children's book format, though its contents should likely not be read as part of a bedtime routine. Through rhyming prose, Mansbach looks at the various excuses children present for why they cannot sleep or are not yet ready to enter slumber. Humourous for parents who have lived through the exasperation, anger, and helplessness, this is a great release and a means of laughing at the process. While the story is short, that is the point. Mansbach seeks to rhyme things out and show how things escalate to the point of complete defeat, only to have the child win again and dictate their sleeping schedule. I remember the struggle with Neo, which has now turned to "wake the fuck up" each morning. A perfect piece to laugh about the pains and struggles, while letting Samuel L. Jackson guide the way in this sensational piece that checks all the fuckin' boxes, lol. Kudos, Mr. Mansbach, for helping me revisit those struggles from years past. | | | |
