It is hard to believe that January is already coming to a close for the year 2024. The new year always brings a newfound passion and motivation to reach goals. So many of us choose to create new year's resolutions; attempting to stick to those goals can be challenging, but they can also be rewarding.
I do not have any specific new year's resolutions this year because I know that in the past I would always be hard on myself for not reaching those goals that I set for myself at the beginning of the year. They are usually lofty and unattainable, but nevertheless, not reaching them or completing them makes you feel worse about yourself. By the end of the year you set new goals, new resolutions, likely the same from the previous year, and the cycle repeats itself. I decided that would not be conducive to a positive year and would not help me on my health journey.
I decided this year to commit to my exercise journey more consistently. In 2023, I missed a few days here and there. It was not a big deal, but by not being consistent, I struggled to get back on track and workout everyday. I enjoy moving my body each day; it makes me feel good to move my body and get those endorphins running. This year, I wanted to take the guessing out of my workout program. Since I use BODi (formerly BeachBody) as my exercise program, there were always days/weeks where I would struggle to pick my next program. Would I complete a new program, pick one I have already completed in the past, try the classes or block programs, or try a new platform altogether? In 2024, I made a calendar showing each workout program I would complete each day/week/month. So far in January, I have stuck to this calendar and it helps me to stay on top of my exercise routine.
In January, I completed the original 21 Day Fix Program, the first exercise program I committed to when I started BeachBody in 2019. I am currently in week 2 of 21 Day Fix Real Time, which is very similar to the original program, but with some much needed tweaks and adjustments. I always loved this program and I am excited to continue this into February. There are also two 21 Day Fix Extreme programs which are more advanced. Since beginning my exercise journey I never tried to complete the extreme versions of the program I enjoy, so this year I am taking the plunge and getting into these more advanced programs. I hope I can at least do the modifications on the movements, and I am going to try to complete these at my own pace.
I am excited for the exercise programs to come in 2024, some tried and true and some new and refreshing. I am also working on my nutrition which as you know by reading my old blog posts, is difficult for me. I am trying to change up my breakfast routine and work on eating out less and snacking less at work. I know that I have said this a time or twenty before this blog, but it is a never ending trial of my free will that I constantly want to work to achieve. I will get there one day. Overall, 2024 is looking to be a year full of trials and tribulations in other aspects of my life, but I want to take the guessing game out of my wellness journey by planning more and working hard to make positive changes in my life. I also am committed to reading more books this year and whittling down on my to be read pile. I am also hoping to post more regularly on the blog! Check back on the blog for more book reviews and life updates!
