Mislaid in Parts Half-Known by Seanan McGuire is the ninth audiobook in the Wayward Children series. I love diving into McGuire's imagination. We travel through doors and make discoveries, as we spend more time with Ansty from Lost in the Moment and Found. Grab a hot cocoa and see why I love this award-winning series.
I highly recommend listening to this series in order, although most will work as a standalone. If you want to jump in, please listen to Lost in the Moment and Found before Mislaid in Parts Half-Known. Not only is it one of my favorites of the series, but the main character in both is Ansty.
Ansty has a knack for finding things. When the students at Eleanor West's School for Wayward Children discover that ability includes doors, she is forced to flee, taking some of her new friends with her.
Ansty wants to get back to the Shop Where the Lost Things Go. She wants to be sure that Vineta and Hudson are keeping their promise. What she discovers is shocking. As we travel through doors, we discover more about the doors themselves, their costs, the worlds they lead to, and the children who open them. Not to mention visiting places with dinosaurs, fairies and more.
I loved the tale from beginning to end and admired Ansty. McGuire weaved in more about some previous characters that has me excited. We learned more about the shop, which I found intriguing. It is one of my favorite places in this world.
McGuire is a brilliant writer and I look forward to more of the Wayward Children series. I recommend listening. Listening enhances the stories. Jesse Vilinsky narrates this story, and she captures Ansty personality and the other characters perfectly.
