A blistering offensive that none can escape from is something that all too many in the darker reaches of the metal underworld seek to achieve, but it's the sort of goal that is far easier said than done. Whereas it tends to be the case that many put forth albums that lack substance in favor of chaos and lose any possibility of an interesting mix in the process, it can be the case that some acts double down on the chaos to come out the other side with a work that is a horrifying sight to gaze upon that offers more than one might expect. Having already become more than familiar with that concept despite having only been dishing out madness for only two years now, Onslaught Kommand showcases a tremendous understanding of it with their debut EP.
Truly a dense amalgamation of screaming flesh whose sonic ferocity is just as potent now as it was within its demo that came out two years ago to herald in the act's arrival, Onslaught Kommand has a horrific visage that cannot be denied. Where many others go for shock value in order to bring some sort of credit to their style before even playing a single note, Onslaught Kommand puts every facet of the concept to good use with the very existence of "Visions of Blood and Gore" more than enough proof of such. An unbridled assault upon the very light of creation, this is a piece that holds nothing back and seeks to plunge the listener into a gory hellscape that only this corner of the metal underworld is able to deliver in any meaningful capacity. Only four tracks adorn "Visions of Blood and Gore", but each one of them is a direct attack upon the psyche in such a way that exceeds the definition of maddening through eviscerating death-grind infused with more than a little bit of black metal to make this more than a mere dip into the realms of sonic torture. Rather, this EP seeks to dive in headfirst with the prospect of resurfacing simply not on the table. The subtleties of the EP are what really tie the work together as Onslaught Kommand still knows how to bring some level of form and vision to their terrible craft, but beyond that there is no question what's in store for anyone who plunge themselves within "Visions of Blood and Gore": death unbound on a scale heretofore only seen in our darkest nightmares.
This is terror and depravity that only the deepest levels of the metal underground are able to bring forth. Where viscera flies and the earth is constantly drenched in blood, bands like Onslaught Kommand thrive in such an environment that only quickens their growth into behemoths whose powers are not to be underestimated lest you become its next victim sooner than you realize. With all that that delivered within the confines of the torturous halls that hold "Visions of Blood and Gore", Onslaught Kommand poises itself to become a rising name whose ferocity cannot be denied.
