My Thoughts:
This is the third novel I have read of the author's that is set in Ireland in an idyllic village called Sandycove. Each book is a standalone as we meet a new cast of characters. It's a beautiful place that is easy to envision and readers will fall hook, line and sinker in love with it.
The chapters alternate between four women, Flora, Kate and their mothers Patsy and Lola. It's very much about mother and daughter relationships. Flora and Patsy have a very close relationship whilst Kate and Lola's is estranged due to Lola living in the limelight as a singer with her work putting distance between the pair.
I liked all four women as we get to know more about them and their lives. Each have come to a bit of a stop in their lives and trying to work out what comes next. There are a great cast of characters in the village who add even more to the enjoyment of the story and it really warms the cockles of your heart. Along with the relationships between mother's and daughters, there is also some romance thrown in for good measure.
The Girls from Sandycove is a gorgeously uplifting story that left me with the most wonderful feeling. I could feel a smile lifting on my face the closer to the end I got as I had enjoyed the novel that much. The sense of community spirit and the bonds between the characters was heartwarming and I wished the story could have carried on as I loved my recent trip to Sandycove. A story and characters that will steal your heart!
My thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for the invite to be part of the tour. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
