Book Description:
Two sworn enemies. One failing hotel. Love is the last thing they need . . .
Welcome to Forest Manor Hotel, where the staff and guests are one happy family. Except for Izzy and Lucas - bitter rivals banned from working the same shift, for everyone's sake.
After struggling for years, the hotel may soon have to close its doors forever. But when Izzy returns a guest's lost wedding ring, the reward convinces management this might fix everything. With four rings still sitting in lost property, Izzy and Lucas are forced to work together to try to save the day.
But as their rivalry becomes something much more complicated, Izzy and Lucas start to wonder if there's more at stake here than the hotel's future . . .
My Thoughts:
Izzy and Lucas work in the same hotel which is sadly struggling. The pair aren't the greatest of work colleagues which can make it a bit of a struggle in their day to day working life. Even though they tolerate one another, it's obvious they both have feelings for each other and I was desperate for them just to open up and admit it.
We meet some wonderful characters in the story, from the staff as well as guests of the hotel. It really has a family feel with there being long staying as well as returning guests. Not only are you routing for Izzy and Lucas to get together but also for the hotel to turn itself around and become a success.
There is a lot of humour along the course of the story as well as some heart warming moments. Along with chemistry heating up between the two main characters, I loved the friendships and sense of family throughout. It shows us how important friends and family can be and that we all need them in our lives.
The Wake-Up Call is a light-hearted story set in a hotel which will have readers falling in love with. The chemistry between the two main characters is a bit of a slow burn but there is plenty going on to keep the reader engaged. The ending in particular was so well done and had me laughing and shedding happy tears. Another compelling and fun read by the author!
