| Garabrandt Reviews Jan 16 | Hello! Welcome to my Top Ten Tuesday post for January 16th, 2024. This is a weekly blog prompt hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week is all about bookish goals for 2024. Here we go! - I want to review everything I read. There were some I was a little embarrassed about (bl webtoons...) and some I didn't know if I had enough to talk about to merit a review; this year I want to review everything even if it's short. As far as the webtoons go, I will most likely only review each one time instead of chapters or volumes unless it's an actual collected volume.
- I want to read more books than last year: I am not going to say I am going to read, like, 200 books, but I want to read at least 80.
- I want to read more books with cultural references. I find that I love japanese and latin literature, especially when it has cultural references or describes the place. I also like books that simply take place in locations. I want to look into reading more of these, maybe even trying to find books that reference different cultures than I have yet to read.
- I want to actually read books in my TBR. My toxic trait? I instabuy books that sound amazing... and don't read them. Or, at least, not quickly. In eBook alone, my TBR pile is in the high hundreds- if this was paper I would have been buried alive! I am not going to promise that I won't continue to buy books, but I want to go through what I have and slowly knock my TBR down- starting with my Kindle Unlimited library so I can get more. (Defeats the purpose, I know).
- I am going to try to take my paperbacks out more. I buy books in paperback or hardcover mostly when it's a book I know that I will want to share (lord, I wish there was a way I could loan out all my eBooks!). Then there are some that I buy because I can't get them in eBook yet, like Laura Imai Messina's The Library of Heartbeats which will be my next paper book. The issue here, is I am lazy. I am not going to drag a paperback around anymore when I have hundreds of books on my phone, thus it takes weeks if not months to finish a book that really ought to take days tops. It doesn't help that I don't grab them when I am home... I want to start reading these before bed instead of being on my phone. Maybe this will help my poor sleep paterns, which would be a plus.
- I want to be more active with Litzy. This is basically Facebook for the bookish and I am here for this. I have been on for years and I love the community I have found there... but I often forget to talk about what I am reading or catch up with my friends' posts. I want to post at least once a week and check in daily, maybe.
My Top Ten Tuesday seems to be a top six.... I wanted to do it anyway. I just don't believe I should be pulling at straws just to make up a list. Is it okay to post an imcomplete list? Let me know your thoughts! | | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
