Vorga – Beyond the Palest Star

Where the very cosmos plays a big role in what black metal brings to the table, we oftentimes get some of the most memorable and bombastic performances in the entire style. Over and over, we've seen acts come about in the sound that are simply staggering to bear witness to. While many tend to think of acts like Mesarthim when it comes to the sound, there are tons of other acts out there more than worthy of mention with Vorga being one of the latest and greatest to fit that very description. It was with their first full-length album just two years ago that we saw what the act was immediately capable of, but it is here with this new journey between stars that they're after the very throne of the style itself. By and large, they very may well ascertain such a lofty goal after this performance makes impact.

It was in 2022 that Vorga absolutely soared beyond expectations with all that was brought forth within "Striving Towards Oblivion", and it is now with "Beyond the Palest Star" that we see the German quartet go even deeper into the void with a performance that is somehow more compelling and refined while never once losing so much as an ounce of the magic that was brought to the table in the preceding album. If anything, that excellence has only been enhanced. Captivating melodies put right alongside ripping musicianship that lets you know you're in for a wild ride out of the very gate, Vorga is in top form for this interstellar ride through the very veil of space-time. There isn't a single weak moment in this entire album! Already, black metal is a heavyweight sound in 2024 with the likes of Spectral Voice and Aureole making their claims known for magnificence, but it is far beyond the reaches of light itself that Vorga comes forth with supreme style and immense power to challenge anyone who's come before and all who will come after for the very throne of 2024 in black metal. They already did it once, and it is pound for pound that we see them doing it again with "Beyond the Palest Star". Devastation unbound but with more than enough majesty thrown in to drop jaws at every possible turn, "Beyond the Palest Star" is not something to be missed for anything.

The definition of a rising star, Vorga has poised itself as one of the absolute need-to-know acts in the whole of black metal. Their previous creation saw the act begin down that very path, but it is every bit of "Beyond the Palest Star" that Vorga has transformed into a magnificent beast not to be underestimated for all of its cosmic power. Should you do so, the crushing weight of dwarf stars will bear down on your with haste and the infinite hell of a black hole will be your only fate.

"Beyond the Palest Star" releases on March 29th via Transcending Obscurity Records!
